Abstract

Presently it has been increasingly developed many applications biomaterials biotechnology, since the biomaterials used for implants and implants with catheters urinary and venous. These biomaterials are often colonized by pathogens can cause serious infections and rejection. Often biofilm formation by Candida spp., which enhances the deterioration of these biomaterials. Therefore, it is essential to research and development of biomaterials capable of preventing the spread of these pathogens. In this example, nisin, an antimicrobial peptide nature, can be used as inhibitor of biofilm formation. The present work was aimed at evaluate the addition of nisin biomolecule in a copolymer structure biodegradable, non-toxic and stable poly (lactide-co-glycolide) or PLGA and test its effect against biofilm formation caused by the yeast Candida spp. (AU)
