Abstract

This research proposal is included in the framework of the expression of emotions in speech and aims at investigating which acoustic parameters of speech are affected by the speaker's emotion and to what extent, as well as the capacity of listeners for inferring the emotional state of the speaker through his/her speech. The corpus to be used consists of real testimonies taken from a documentary style film and the selected emotions will first be identified by a battery of listeners in a perception test. The classes of acoustic parameters to be studied are: fundamental frequency (f0), first derivative of f0, intensity, spectral tilt and Long-Term Average Spectrum, of which several statistical descriptors will be calculated.
