Abstract

Introduction: contextual factors are important in the determination of an individual ability to perform functional activities, as the sit-to-stand movement (STS). Bench height and external stimulation, as Kinesiotaping application, can be applied to facilitate STS movement performance with efficient motor strategies. Objectives: verify bench height manipulation and Kinesiotaping application in muscle activation and motor strategies during STS movement performance in children with CP. Methods: 30 children with spastic CP will be evaluated. Three groups will be evaluated according with motors strategies adopted to perform STS movement. A kinematic analysis will be used, by Qualisys ProReflex system, for angular variables determination. Root mean square, activation onset e coactivation variables will be acquired by a portable electromyography for rectus femoris, medial hamstrings, tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius, rectus abdominals and erector spine muscles. Three bench heights (100, 80 e 120% of length of the leg during sitting position) and kinesiotaping/placebo conditions will be used. Two familiarization trial and 10 evaluation trials will be performed. Evaluation will be done in two days: 1) bench height manipulation and kinesiotaping condition; 2) bench height manipulation and placebo condition. Descriptive results will be obtained, considering mean and standard deviation. Data will be evaluated by statistical tests according to theirs normality. We believe that the kisesiotaping condition will increase muscle activation and enable the adoption of efficient motor strategies during STS movement performance in children with CP. Moreover, we believe that a better effect of kinesiotaping will be found during STS movement performance of a lower bench height.
