Abstract

This research takes as its object of analysis two paradigmatic publications of the so-called Brazilian Counterculture - Grilo Magazine, released by the Espaço-Tempo Veículos de Comunicação Ltda. between 1971 and 1972, which was responsible for the publication in the national territory of key authors of the international underground, such as Robert Crumb, Gilbert Sheldon and Wolinski and the Magazine Balão, an alternative publication, bulwark of this movement in Brazil and which featured the work of young cartoonists as Laertes, Luiz Gê and the Caruso brothers. The aim, therefore, is to analyze the importance of alternative sequential narratives at a specific moment in Brazilian history, its specificities in relation to what was practiced abroad, its ambiguities and relationship with a cultural industry that was undergoing consolidation.
