Abstract Rapid urbanization has led to various and disorderly changes in the environment of cities, resulting in the formation of pockets to weather the heat islands, pollution in all its forms and sharp reduction of environmental quality and life of the townspeople. In this sense this work, or thesis proposal, aimed at assessing the environmental quality and the occurrence of islands of heat and coolness in the city of Chapecó / SC, in order to assist the city in urban planning. Justified the choice by the city of Chapecó / SC as a function of lack of studies of this order involving mid-sized cities, since most studies on the thermal field and environmental quality have been or are held in major cities. In addition to this lack of studies, another factor that deserves attention is the economic growth and urban Chapecó / SC that require an environmental studies and to assist in planning and also, as noted Miller (1990), the variety of the urban landscape presents as a real laboratory to be directed to a line of research of interest to study not only the climate and the urban environmental quality, which one is just a feature. These facts make this study relevant and at the same time unprecedented. (AU) | |
