Abstract

The growing of interest in renewable and clean energy sources has accelerated the research aiming to make devices such as solar cells. A solar cell directly converts the energy from the sun into electrical energy. Currently, marketed devices are made from silicon wafers of high purity. Recently, with the discovery of organic solar cells, research has intensified and to resolve the problem of degradation of these cells appeared the hybrid and dye-sensitized solar cells. These devices appear to be promising for converting solar energy because they combine the properties of both materials, obtaining inorganic and organic properties that individually these materials does not has. Thus, the aim of this project is to manufacture hybrid and Grätzel solar cells from ZnO and Nb2O5. ZnO and Nb2O5 will be prepared in film form on which will be deposited organic material. The films will be structurally, morphologically and optically characterized. Once the parameters such as thickness, density and stability of the films are optimized, the devices will be mounted and electrically characterized to obtain the maximum efficiency. (AU)
