Abstract Analysis and interpretation of elastic and inelastic diffractive scattering of hadrons at high energies (soft processes at small momentum transfer), is a current problem on the edge of fundamental processes in physics. On the one hand, QCD (the field theory of strong interactions) does not provide a full description or explanation of such processes. On the other hand, recent data obtained at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC-CERN), by the collaborations TOTEM, ATLAS, CMS and ALICE, about cross sections and distributions of diffractive events has allowed a major push to develop the theory and phenomenology of soft hadronic interactions, associated with the non-perturbative sector of QCD. The goal of this research project, to be developed at the National Laboratory of Frascati (LNF), Italy, under the supervision of Prof.. Dr. Giulia Pancheri and with collaboration of Professor. Dr. Paolo Lipari (University of Rome), is to expand and upgrade the development of cutting-edge research in the field of hadronic interactions. Specifically, we aim to investigate non-perturbative approaches to QCD elastic scattering of hadrons at high energies, via the Soft Gluon Ressumation Model (G. Pancheri), and to look for extensions to inelastic diffractive channels for a description of dissociative processes (P. Lipari). (AU) | |
