Abstract

Our one-year sandwich PhD proposal aims at investigating part of the computational and theoretical studies in the field of data segmentation based on dense graphs. In synergy with the doctoral research currently in progress, which deals with spectral clustering applications encompassing hexahedral meshes and images, the visiting research is intended to explore new methodologies to manipulate and clustering dense graphs by the bias of the page rank model of google.com: the GooglePageRank. Our proposal intends to proceed with the doctoral studies so as to develop a deeper investigation about spectral processing, high-dimensional data analysis and manipulation of large graphs, since the target group in USA is renowned for research excellence worldwide regarding these research topics. Applications such as segmentation and feature extraction applied to volumetric meshes and images, numerical modeling/solution of large matrices and high-dimensional data analysis are some topics of study to be investigated during the sandwich period.
