Abstract

The Lychnophorinae subtribe has a geographic distribution nearly restricted to Brazil and occurs specially in Campo Rupestre and Cerrado Rupestre areas in Central Brazilian Plateau. In these environments, the species of Lychnophorinae are subjected to intense solar radiation, big changes in daily temperature, water scarcity during autumn and winter, and occurrence of fire, that it can be related to several structure adaptations in these plants. Moreover, one chosen species to this study occurs in Zona da Mata nordestina, fragmented environment of Mata Atlântica, that is very different of Cerrado areas. In the context of understanding of phylogenetic relations of Lychnophorinae subtribe, it is important to know the adaptations to environment, and among these, those that can be considered synapomorphies or evolutionary convergences. For that, histological slides will be prepared and analysed, following the usual techniques to light microscopy. The data will be compared to literature and then they will be discussed with the supervisor. Thus, we intend to identify the characteristics that can be regarded adaptive strategies to occupancy of different environments and we hope to contribute to the knowledge of Lychnophorinae subtribe, verifying if these characteristics have taxonomic value for phylogenetic considerations.
