Abstract The desired contribution in this research project is to obtain results that bring a meaningful collaboration in the field of automatic control of uncertain dynamic systems with controllers design based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The main objective is the scientific improvement of the candidate and, more specifically, a cooperation with the research activities that are being developed within of the FAPESP Thematic Project: "Monitoring and Control of Dynamical Systems Subjected to Failures" (Process 2011/17610-0). The proposed investigation is within the research line entitled "design of robust controllers using matrix inequalities" of the Thematic Project cited above. The planned studies address the following topics: (a)robust control using the state-derivative feedback and the direct method of Lyapunov with extra variables; (b) synthesis of controllers less conservative in the context of uncertain systems with state-derivative feedback and alternative Lyapunov functions; (c) implementation in the laboratory for validation of the controllers employing equipments that are being purchased with financial resources from the Thematic Project.
