Abstract

Eucalyptus urophylla is one of the most important species of the genus, due to the adaptability to various climatic conditions, versatility in the use of wood, resistance to drought and rust tolerance and cancer of the eucalyptus. Several progenies and provenances were introduced in Brazil, and now enable studies to obtain superior genetic materials. The object of this work is the ecological zoning through the analysis of productivity, stability and adaptability in progenies of E. urophylla, which represent the genetic basis of this kind in the country. For this, we studied five progeny tests installed in different locations in the states of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul will be evaluated silvicultural characters of plant height (ALT, m), diameter at breast height (DBH , cm) and survival (SOB,%). The progeny tests were conducted in a randomized complete block design. Genetic parameters and statistical methodology will be obtained by REML/BLUP. For the study of productivity, stability and adaptability will use two methodologies: MHPRVG (harmonic mean of the relative performance of breeding values) predicted by BLUP and modeling AMMI (Additive Main effect and Multiplicative Interaction). The use of these two methods will reveal the particular environment in each study and apply the most appropriate breeding strategies and for each environment together with regard to the use of E. urophylla in forest breeding programs.
