Abstract

This research intends to comprehend how the use of digital media articulates male homoerotic desires, market and the development of technologies. Targeting this objective, it will articulate the contact with feminist/queer media researchers at the University of California, a mapping of technology/media developers in the area and an ethnographic incursion in San Franciscos metropolitan gay culture. It is based on it that technologies, products and services are developed and globally disseminated. The collect of empirical data will be made in a qualitative way and their analysis intends to contribute to discuss how the local origin of technologies mark their use in other regions. Associated with a research in progress since 2007, this project will also allow a comparison/contrast between the "original" use of certain products and technologies with the ones that take place in Brazilian society.
