Early and late Preeclampsia: maternal and perinatal outcomes

Abstract

Pre-eclampsia is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy associated with significant morbidity and maternal and neonatal mortality. The objective of the study is to compare the maternal and perinatal outcomes among women with early and late preeclampsia assisted at Botucatu Medical School. Subjects and Methods: A retrospective review and will be analytical in pregnant women with preeclampsia who received delivery care in the Department of Obstetrics, Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine of Botucatu - UNESP. Pregnant women will be stratified according to gestational age at diagnosis into two groups: early preeclampsia (<34 weeks) and late preeclampsia (e34 weeks). The variables are the maternal (Abruptio placentae, HELLP syndrome, acute pulmonary edema, Imminent eclampsia, eclampsia, kidney failure, postpartum hemorrhage, blood transfusion requirement, Death Maternal, Obstetric delivery), and perinatal (Small for gestational age, prematurity, stillbirth, early neonatal deaths, late neonatal deaths). The calculation of sample size was 213 women per group. The results will be statistically analyzed for comparison between groups. For all statistical comparisons will be considered minimum of 95% significance (p <0.05). Expected results: It is expected to develop this project further understanding of how maternal and perinatal variables behave in relation to preeclampsia early and late, in terms of prevalence and severity, to ratify the hypothesis that early and PE late have different outcome.
