Abstract The general purpose of our project is to analyze the English-Portuguese bilingual Terminology of the national and international trade show sector, more specifically the terms used during the process of preparation, participation and post-show, with the specific goal of developing a bilingual glossary for the use of professionals from the trade show sector, researchers and students in the areas of foreign trade and international relations and translators. The research is based on the theories of Cabré (1999), Barros (2004), Alves (2007), Barbosa (2009), Dubuc (1985), Berber Sardinha (2004) e Babini (2006). We will gather corpora in the two languages, which will consist of specialized books, articles and magazines, trade shows market research, academic work and laws on trade shows. To collect the terms we will adopt the methodology used in the bilingual or multilingual terminology. Data will be collected through software for processing of corpora and they will be organized into notional systems.Once we complete our glossary, we will analyze the set of the key terms of the trade show sector highlighting the main problems encountered in the pursuit and establishment of the equivalence in English. | |
