Abstract Band songs, civilian and military, played importante role in urban cultural construction of São Paulo city in transition from the nineteenth to the twentieth, un decisive period in the life of the city. They were privileged means of communication of all kinds of music and your dissemination were public. Collaborated to consolidate certain styles of popular music, beyond that, were constructors of musicians and were rare space of professionalisation. Despite these multiple functions, unfortunately yet there is little information about them. Thus this project has the broad aim investigate the performance of these musical groups and understand their role in the formation of musical circuit in São Paulo in the early years of the twentieth century. For this it is intended to make an inventory of institutional bands (as Força Pública), such as those which existed for a long time (as Lira da Lapa) and the temporary (for example, those belonging to immigrants, as the Ettore Fieramosca) who performed in the city of São Paulo on the period. To build it will be necessary map the places of activity and cataloging their repertoires; identify their professionals most actives and forms of organization, working methods and professionalisation. The sources that allow this approach with this complex research object are reluctant and, for this reason, should be diverses. | |
