Abstract

This project is related to the main doctoral project by FAPESP "Plural forms: efficiency or bargain?" (Process 2011/23495-0) and aims to apply for funding from FAPESP in order to conduct activities in Paris for a Dual-Doctoral Degree between FEA-USP and the Université de Paris 1/Pantheon-Sorbonne. The thesis will be co-supervised by Professor Claude Menard, one of the most prominent theorists in the international field in which the scholar develops her research. The stage will bring important theoretical contributions to the development of the thesis, which aims to investigate the reasons underlying the emergence of the so-called plural forms. These forms consist of the governance of similar transactions, endowed with the same attributes, through the simultaneous use of two or more organizational forms, evidenced in several empirical studies that contradict the Transaction Cost Theory. Particularly, we examine the hypotheses of efficiency and bargain as drivers for the use of plural forms. The activities abroad include, among others, the course of disciplines at the Sorbonne, the participation in thesis seminars and the interaction with professors and French researchers; in order to enable the construction of the theoretical framework. The stage is expected to provide closer relations between the researchers and institutions involved as to generate joint publications and broaden the insertion of the research conducted at USP in the international scenario.
