Abstract

The mathematical models can be used with aim improve performance, to reduce cost of production and excretion of nutrients through best estimate of the requirements and use of feeds in different production settings. The objective of this project is evaluation of existing models with basis of independent data and development of new models of nutrition for dairy cattle in tropical conditions. The first stage of the project will be the evaluation of models of the NRC (2001), on the basis of independent data. The study will be performed with data national published in scientific journals with recognized editorial body, master's theses and doctoral dissertations. After, the evaluation of the equations of NRC (2001), if necessary, will be proposed new equations. As final step, a new complete model will be developed and tested with another database independent, from herds of universities, stations of research and commercial farms that have control of the system of production. The main contribution of this project will be to evaluate the model of the NRC (2001), to develop a new model tropicalized and evaluate their predictive capacity of productive characteristics of dairy cows in Brazil.
