Abstract

Iron complexes in the oxidation state 2+ present interesting spectroscopic properties and defined redox sites. Thus, in this project the iron complex [Fe(CN)5(ptt)]3- (ptt= 4-pyridyl-triazole-3-thiol or 5-(4-pyridyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol) will be synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR, and Raman), electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry), among others. This compound is indicated in the literature and will be used to obtain chemically modified electrodes. Due to the presence of the thiol functional group in the structure of such coordination compound, it will be studied the modification of gold electrodes by self-assembled monolayers. Additionally, will be developed strategies to form films electrochemically active, as Prussian blue film. In another approach will be studied the modification of gold electrodes with gold nanoparticles to increase the surface area, and subsequently modifying the system with the complex [Fe(CN)5(ptt)]3-. This modified electrode will be tested as a sensor for hydrogen peroxide and subsequently for other analyses such as nitrite, sulfite, or glucose. This request represents an important strategy to obtain new materials and chemically modified electrodes. Moreover, meets the demand of human resources for undergraduate students of Molecular Nanotechnology Laboratory IQ-UNICAMP and is consistent with the research lines of this Laboratory.(AU)
