Abstract

Cerebral palsy (CP) has as a characteristic variable difficulties in muscular action, resulting in the inability of the individual to perform functional movements. One option to provide functionality to the individual with CP is the use of advances in computing. The objective of this study is to verify whether a movement with augmented reality, through the use of an interface without physical contact, facilitates the performance of functional acts for individuals with cerebral palsy. Therefore, a computer program was developed with coincident timing tasks that will be performed through two interfaces: the physical interface in which the individual will perform a tap on the computer keyboard to complete the task and the virtual interface in which the individual performs a movement toward a webcam, in this case, the task is terminated without the need of physical touch. To carry out this study, 30 individuals with CP who will constitute the experimental group and 30 individuals without physical disabilities who will form the control group will be age- and sex-matched pair assessed. For data analysis, performance measures will be used as those related to achieving task goal, considering constant error and absolute error. Intragroup and intergroup values will be analyzed, considering the touch time of the virtual sensor or keyboard. The results will offer data for future interventions with the use technological advances, enabling greater functionality for individuals with CP. (AU)
