Abstract

The wind turbines are more present in modern power distribution and sub-transmission networks, which are in most cases equipped with doubly-fed induction generators. The technology applied to wind turbines has been in an evolutionary process in the last decades. The most efficient technology is the use of the Permanent magnet synchronous generator. They are characterized by multi-magnetic poles, as a result, low rotational speed generators can be manufactured with relatively small sizes with respect to their power rating. Moreover, gearboxes (essential in doubly-fed induction generators) can be omitted due to the low rotational speed operation of PMSG. The number of scientific journal publications in this field is limited to analyzing the impact of the connection to the electric grid. The goal of this project of scientific initiation is to investigate and propose a computation model to represent the dynamic behavior of wind turbines based on permanent magnet synchronous generators capable to operate at different wind speeds. This investigation will be performed through multiple dynamic nonlinear three-phase simulations, using a toolbox from Matlab/Simulink. (AU)
