Abstract

In medium-sized cities in São Paulo State, the accelerated urbanization process, which occurred since the 70's, contributed to the occupation of areas susceptible to the onset of morphogenetic processes, triggering a series of environmental problems. Thus, the main objective of this research proposal is to identify and analyze the changes generated by urbanization over the relieve forms the east sector of the city of Rio Claro / SP, through the geomorphological historical and evolutionary maps with approach based on Antropogeomorphology. Thus, intend to discuss the consequences of urbanization in the morphodynamics of the study area over time, based on the evolutionary stages model proposed by Nir (1983), which seeks to demonstrate the influence of urbanization on the morphodynamics, (pre-urban, construction period and period consolidated urban) elaborated for the international scenary. For these objectives to be achieved, will be elaborated and analyzed maps geomorphological and land use for different scenarios (1962,1972, 1988, 1995 and 2010). These maps, in addition to its character evolution historic, will demonstrate the changes occurring over time and will enable the analysis of interactions between morphology and interference arising from the use of land in relief. It is important elucidate the anthropogenic transformations during forty-eight years, considering that the physical characteristics of the study area reveal a naturally susceptible, especially to erosion process. Thus, the results obtained, along with a search of other physical characteristics of the area, the give property to the preparation of a map setting out the sectors whose characteristics impose restrictions on urban use, subsidizing the actions of urban planning and public management.
