Abstract

Over the past 60 years, many cities in Brazil almost doubled its number of inhabitants. As a result of this process, there was an increase of the occupation of unstable areas, the physical point of view, and implementation of various human interventions in the natural environment by rearranging existing forms, speeding up processes, among which one can cite the gullies, the ravines , landslides, and creating others, such as flooding. Thus, this research seeks to examine the geomorphological changes resulting from urbanization, in the drainage basin of Lavapés stream, located in Rio Claro (SP) through the geomorphological evolutionary history mapping. To do so, will be prepared geomorphological and land use mappings for the years 1962, 1988 and 2010, beyond the letter of slope. Such scenarios will be analyzed using the general systems theory, and the results integrated into a letter of restrictions on urban use.(AU)
