Rehabilitation program with therapeutic efficacy control in oropharyngeal dysphagia after stroke

Abstract

Introduction: Studies related with oropharyngeal dysphagia show that gustative-thermic-tactile stimulations and electrical stimulation could better the deglutition biomechanic. However, the control of some techniques together such one homogeneous sample is necessary. Objective: To propose and to measure a rehabilitation program in a homogeneous group, to the point of view of neurophisiopathological. Methods: 20 individuals after stroke will participate in this study, with oropharyngeal dysphagia with at the least 90 days or more after stroke. The individuals, randomly, will participate either in the therapeutic program, based on gustative-thermic-tactile stimulation (therapy I) or in the associated program, correlating the neuromuscular-electric stimulation (therapy II). The programs will be realized in daily sessions during the week, excluding weekend, making 15 sessions in a total. It will be applied the protocol before and after therapy to control efficacy techniques used. The analysis of results will be realized the groups I and II. Therefore, we expected to better understand, through the therapy efficacy control, if exist difference between therapies and if both have efficacious in population studied. (AU)
