Abstract

CO2 is a C1 building block, but it has a great importance, since it can be used for making several organic chemicals. Besides, it can be considered an economical, safe, and renewable carbon source. In this project, we will develop an enzymatic system to transform CO2 under continuous flow. Two strategies will be employed. The first one is dedicated to the co-immobilization of formate dehydrogenase (FateDH) and NADH (cofactor) on conductive supporting to be applied an electrochemical regeneration. Another strategy involves the use of a second enzyme (GDH, glutamate dehydrogenase) and NADH (cofactor). In this case, we intend to carry out the co-immobilization of both enzymes FateDH and GDH GDH (formate dehydrogenase for CO2 reduction and glutamate dehydrogenase for cofactor regeneration). All these systems will be applied to evaluate the formic acid production under continuous flow. (AU)
