Abstract Nanotechnology applications have been touted as a promising source of new solutions for medicine, mainly because it constitutes a new perspective in the search for alternative therapies for some diseases. For example, there are few efficient therapies for the treatment of late-stage breast cancer. Thus, the recently discovered silver nanoparticles synthetized by fungi have been considered as one potential alternative for the breast cancer treatment. This proposal seeks to understand the endocytotic pathways by which breast cancer cells (MCF-7 line) internalize silver nanoparticles. In addition, it proposes to study the intracellular processing of biosynthetic silver nanoparticles, i.e. autophagy, apoptosis and oxidative stress in breast tumor cells. The study of the endocytic pathway of silver nanoparticles in breast cancer cell, followed by the understanding of their biological processes will able us to evaluate the therapeutic potential of these nanoparticles for advanced stages of the breast tumor. | |
