Abstract

The study of Paleoecology is necessary for the understanding and the comprehension of the relationships of organisms of the past and their environments. The objective of the proposed project is along with other branches of Paleontology as the systematic and morphology, to study fossil bivalves from an outcrop not yet described in the literature, in the region of the Presidente Prudente-SP/Bauru Group (Upper Cretaceous, Bauru Basin), thus contributing to paleoenvironmental interpretations of bivalve mollusks tafocenoses preserved in these lithotypes. For this study, fieldwork will be realized to collect new fossil specimens. These specimens will be analyzed and photographed in the Laboratory of Paleontology of Macroinvertebrates (LAPALMA) on Campus of Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" UNESP Bauru-SP, and with due assistance of relevant paleontological literature is classified on their ecological and morphofunctional characteristics. Moreover, intends to use this information as complementation a studies systematics and taphonomic performed so concomitant in region for other projects of the laboratory. (AU)
