Abstract This research aims to develop a proposal for a methodology to analyse music videos that are simultaneously present in economic, academic and artistic fields. Thereupon, we propose the analysis of 22 (twenty two) music videos of bands and artists such as David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel, Björk, Radiohead, Arcade Fire and Sigur Rós, which are inserted in these circulations. From the collection of works selected for analysis, which includes productions between 1970 and 2010, common elements will be sought in audiovisual and poetics structures that are similar to the procedures of contemporary visual works, especially those of video art. Concepts such as 'de-automation', 'anesthesia' and 'synesthesia', applied to visual arts, will be revisited and integrated with the music videos analyzed, assuming that the selected works share the intention to remove the viewer from the shock and excessive stimuli of contemporary society. The methodology for the research is based on the viewing of the music videos selected, and in the investigation of other sources, press material and critics, in the search for considerations that are related to the works or directors selected. This will provide a deepening in theoretical concepts related to the field of music video, and also reinforce the analysis of the works and the systematization of the data obtained. (AU) | |
