Abstract

In this project we will research, within the instrumental/vocal contemporary music sphere, the various procedures of musical writing and their features related to models of perception, solfége, compositional intentions and idiosyncrasies of the supports of creation in use. In other words, how those matters are in intimate dialogue with the notation itself and its representational possibilities. Our focus will be the musical repertoire of XX and XXI centuries, mainly in the instrumental/vocal medium, dealing as well with considerations from the mixed and electroacoustic mediums and comparing their changes in representational matters. Starting from Delalande's ideas of support of creation and technologic paradigm, Catanzaro's designation of technomorfism, Zampronha's reflections about representation in musical notation and Garcia's observations about models of perception, we will study the interpolation of these subjects in the notational field and their consequences, thus outlining technical and aesthetic tendencies. Then we will organize, through the analysis of contemporary pieces, compositional writing strategies that concern to the relationship connecting perception and representation. Lastly, besides the reflective and analytical approaches, the candidate will develop compositional activity and report the creative process from the point of view of this research. (AU)
