Abstract

This project will seek to analyze and reflect on the solfège functionality within the compositional scope: constituent part of the act of composing, the solfège is what translates internal creative stimuli to the outside by those who compose. This process can occur in many ways and is present in multimode levels within the creative action. Starting from Pierre Schaeffer's ideas, the conceptions of Denis Smalley on spectromorphology and reflections of Silvio Ferraz and Rodolfo Caesar about the listening act in dialogue with composition, the solfège application will be examined in chamber works by composers Alexandre Remuzzi Ficagna and Gustavo Rodrigues Penha. Both are active composers and researchers with investigations that communicate directly with the theme of this project: Ficagna investigates the musical creation through visual stimuli, dialoguing with specific types of solfège and generating reflections about the intermodality of listening and the interchange between different supports of creation; Penha discusses critical rewriting and the different levels of solfège, linking technical and poetical content of compositional processes. Therefore, conditions are created of fruitful exchanges between the different theoretical materials and the musical pieces to be analyzed. There will also be made interviews with Ficagna and Penha, the focus of these being the elucidation of different solfège processes and their interactions with compositional tools throughout the composition of selected chamber works. Finally, as constituent part of the project, an original piece will be composed for heterogeneous chamber group, aiming to apply the proposed study in this research. (AU)
