Abstract

This Master's project is an extension of the Scientific Initiation Research "The dialogue between solfège and compositional processes", financed by FAPESP in 2017. In it, the "solfège" was studied within the musical composition starting from the theoretical materials of Pierre Schaeffer, Denis Smalley, Rodolfo Caesar and Silvio Ferraz. After those, came the theoretical and artistic productions of Alexandre Ficagna and Gustavo Penha, composers who are intimately related to the "solfège" theme. Both were interviewed individually and had their musical pieces analyzed. At the end of the research, the author composed a chamber piece, accompanied by elucidations about the use of his solfèges. The present project aims to deepen the reflexive knowledge about solfège in the compositional helm, now making a link between the structural levels of the creative act and the use of diverse solfèges. The initial methodological basis will be: reflections on listening and perception in the present time (Caesar, Ferraz, Garcia, Szendy); spectromorphology and its practical uses (Blackburn, Smalley, Thoresen); solfejos in compositional processes (Bonafé, Catanzaro, Ferraz, Ficagna, Penha, Grisey, Lachenmann, Varèse, Xenakis, among others); relationship between support of creation and creative practice (Catanzaro, Delalande, Ficagna, Iazzetta). In sequence, the use of solfèges will be studied through works by the Brazilian composers and researchers Tatiana Catanzaro, Rodrigo Lima and Paulo Rios Filho. In addition to the above phases, it is part of this project the composition of one or more pieces to be made by the author through the use of the acquired theoretical and artistic baggage. (AU)
