Abstract

The larg diversity of native species, synanthropic or not, and migratory birds, potentially hosts a wide variety of bacterial, fungal and viral agents, whose identity is virtually unknown and may be targets for deep scientific studies. Besides representing a wealth of biodiversity, scientific exploration and commercial potential, these agents may pose potential health risks. Thus, this study focuses on identifying and characterizing genetically coronaviruses circulating in wild birds or native synanthropic and migratory seabirds in the State of São Paulo. Samples of tracheal swabs and cloacal swabs will be collected from various species of native wild birds and / or synanthropic sorting centers in the state; samples of species of seabirds will be collected in coastal sorting centers. The samples will be examined by the technique of "Real Time RT-PCR Multiprobe" for the presence of coronavirus belonging to 3 genera (pancoronavírus). The identified agents will be submitted to the sequencing of genes S, N and Pol followed by phylogenetic analysis. In addition to being a representative database of the State's biodiversity, the study of these viral agents will be extremely useful for the elucidation of works involving molecular epidemiology and ecology.
