Abstract

This research aims to understand the genesis of the concept of gender in children of 4-6 years using Piaget's theory and establishing parallels with Kohlberg. This research will be using interviews with children of these ages to understand their comprehension of the theme. The theory formulated by Kohlberg regarding the development of the gender can be related to the theory formulated by Piaget: both deal with children development in successive stages in which children assimilate information from the world and transform their cognitive structures (accommodation), thus constituting their way of dealing with and understanding the world and theirself.
