Abstract

This project analyzes the way that the German traveler Wilhelm Ludwig von Eschwege sees, through his foreign eyes, the political and social situation of Brazil. Using the Travel Literacy and the related bibliography, we try to understand how these travel books are political projects, denouncing the precarious situation of the Brazilian society and the bad management of the natural resources and which are the diagnostics and projects that the Baron of Eschwege presents on his narratives. Furthermore, from this work, the effectiveness of Travel Literacy, in the historiography field is debated; and how we can reconstruct History from the narratives of travelers in Brazil. (AU)
