Abstract

Weeds are one of the most important biotic factors that affect the production of sugarcane. Among the various types of weeds, moningglory comprise a group of vines very important that infests the culture of sugarcane, mainly in planting natural sugarcane. These research project aims to evaluate the effects of direct and indirect interference Merremia cissoides on the initial growth of the culture of sugarcane. Cement boxes will be used as conteiners with capacity for 100 L, filled with clay substratum. The experiments will be constituted by four treatment groups: (I) monoculture of sugarcane, (II) monoculture of moningglory, (III) cultivation of sugarcane in coexistence with the moningglory in the same container and (IV) cultivation of sugarcane in coexistence with the moningglory in separate containers. The experimental design is a randomized block with ten replications. Within each treatment group will be established two sampling periods, at 90 and 180 days after sprouting (DAS) of cuttings and transplanting moningglory, which will be evaluated in five replications. Monthly the plants of sugarcane will be evalute for height, number of leaves, the total chlorophyll content and chlorophyll a fluorescence (Fv/Fm). At 90 and 180 (DAS), plants of sugarcane and moningglory, beyond these characteristics shall be determined: leaf area, dry weight of shoots (leaves and culm / stem) and content and accumulation of macronutrients. All data will be submitted to analysis of variance by F test, the averages were compared by Tukey test at 5% probability, within in a factorial treatment of 4x2 (being four treatment groups and two evaluation periods).
