Abstract The weed interference is one of the main limiting factors of the productivity of sugarcane. Among the factors that influence competition, weeds density and distance between weeds and the crop (area of influence), can be mentioned. Thus, the objective of this work will be to evaluate the effect of density and distance of Cynodon dactylon and Merremia aegyptia on the initial development of sugarcane seedlings. The experiment will be carried out using boxes with a capacity of 50 liters (0.62 x 0.62 x 0.26 m), filled with soil collected in the arable layer of a Red Latosol. MPBs will be planted in the center of each box. The experimental design will be a completely randomized factorial scheme for each weed (Cynodon dactylon (via vegetative propagation) and Merremia aegyptia (sexual propagation)) of 4 x 5, with 4 densities (1, 2, 4 and 8 plants) and 5 culture distances (2,6,12,18,24cm) with four replicates. Other weeds will be removed by means of slabs. The period of interference between seedlings and weeds will be understood between emergence and flowering of weeds, which may vary between weeds. In addition, a control will be maintained without the presence of the weed and a treatment with the presence of weeds in the absence of the crop. At the end of the experiment, the sugarcane and weed seedlings will be evaluated in relation to height (cm), leaf area (cm2), and dry shoot biomass (g). Cut to the ground and placed in an oven at 65 ° C for 48 hours. The nutrient of the aerial part of both the weeds and the crop will also be evaluated. Also the macro and micronutrient contents will be evaluated in both the cultivated plants and the weeds. | |
