Abstract

In the last decade it has been observed a gradual increase in the use of plants for natural therapies and pharmaceutical purposes, this process is influenced by common knowledge. To provide anti-inflammatory and analgesic alternative, this project explores the species Pterodon pubescens Benth. (Sucupira), plant commonly used in the treatment of rheumatism, sore throat, spine problems, as tonic (fortifying) and depurative. Pharmacologically it is known that this species shows the expected effects in assays involving writhing induced by acetic acid, hot plate test and capsaicin test as the evaluation of the antinociceptive action, and models evaluation after paw edema by carrageenin, histamine and bradykinin, and ear edema produced by croton oil as the anti-inflammatory activity. The objective of this study is the development of a topical pharmaceutical form containing microencapsulated extract of P. pubescens and evaluation of its stability and determination of shelf life.
