Abstract

The prevention and treatment of hypertension represents a major challenge for professionals and managers in the area of public health, considering that approximately 75% of health care of the population is performed by the Unified Health System - SUS. The diagnosis of hypertension established by the Guidelines of the Brazilian Cardiology Society should be performed taking into account the patient preparation, use of equipment validated, calibrated and suitable for people with obesity. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension in patients with obesity grade III and IV are in accordance with the guidelines proposed by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology.
