Abstract

Given the scarcity of studies on postharvest physiology of flowers, this research aims to study the postharvest of inflorescences of Alstroemeria cv. Ajax, considering factors associated with senescence and loss of life floral decoration. The experiments will be conducted in a completely randomized in a double factorial. Five experiments will be contemplated .In the first, the flowers will be submitted to four silicon dose (0, 28, 56, 84 mg.L-1) in maintenance solution and stored at ambient temperature (22 °C). In the second, the flowers will receive five doses of calcium (0, 10, 25, 50 and 100 mmol L-1) in maintenance solution and stored at 22 ºC. In the third, the stems will be accomodated in containers with distilled water and stored at four temperatures (4, 8, 12 and 22 °C). In the fourth, the stems will be arranged in erlenmeyers containing maintenance solutions consist of the following growth regulators: citocinine and gibberellic acid at concentrations of 100 and 200 mg.L-1 each. In the fifth, is used the 1-MCP at concentrations of 0, 100, 250 and 500 ppb. All experiments will be evaluated for a period of 12 days. We will analyze the content of silicon, calcium content, respiration rate, ethylene production, the relative water content, pigments, soluble and reducing sugars, enzymes activity polyphenoloxidase and peroxidase, fresh weight and longevity. The results will be submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) using SAS software (SAS Institute Inc.) and the effect of treatment, when significant, will be submitted to Test F. Significant differences between the results will be compared using minimal significant difference (LSD) with 95% confidence interval (P d 0.05).
