Abstract

The use of medicinal plants is common in many ethnic groups in Brazil because the country has a great diversity of plant species. But the use of these plants as "standardized herbal" (não sei se essa expressão está certa!) does not occur with the same frequency, due to the lack of studies related to these therapies, seen as alternatives. Given this context, this project aims at analyzing the extract of Eugenia species Camb to establish a chemical profile that can assist in proving (or not) the medicinal properties popularly attributed to this species. Concomitantly, we intend to establish a database of plant extracts in the Faculty of Sciences UNESP, Bauru - SP and to contribute with new option medicinal species, supported by scientific standardization for the Programa Nacional de Plantas Medicinais e Fitoterápicos do Sistema Único de Saúde.
