Abstract

The Saint Louis Zoo is one of the most renowned zoos in the world, mainly due to its staff work on wild animal reproduction and contraception. Most of the contraception researches performed there involves database analysis and hormonal assay (testosterone, estradiol and progesterone) using feces has extract. On animal reproduction many researches are developed in Saint Louis, especially with preservation of genetic material of Mexican wolves. Due to all this attributes, the Saint Louis Zoo can provide both trainee on database analysis and hormonal assay from wild animals submitted to contraception and trainee on handling ovarian tissue and oocytes, cryopreservation and staining, as well as learn about the strategies for Mexican wolf population genetics, gene banking and conservation.
