Abstract

Concern for the environment has resulted in research of various biodegradable vegetable oils as it was done before the discovery of oil. The first difference in vegetable oils is the amount of saturated and unsaturated acids present in their structure and the degree of saturation of their molecules. The degree of unsaturation affects the stability to oxidation properties at low and high temperatures, and most vegetable oils have the rapid breaking of the molecules to temperatures above 1500 C. This work adds a contribution to the studies of substitution of mineral lubricants. For this, an oil of vegetable origin will be added with four types of additives, and a combination of them. In the wear tests, pins and disks will be similar to the materials of internal combustion engines. (AU)
