Abstract

The replacement of fish meal and fish oil by vegetable ingredients may have an immunosuppressive effect for fish. This project aims at evaluating dietary supplementation of vitamin E for the red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) and assesses diet immunostimulatory and antioxidant activity. The trial will be set up in a completely randomized design, with five treatments (0; 200; 400; 600 and 800 mg vitamin E kg-1 diet) (n=3). Fish will be fed with the experimental diets for 8 weeks and the growth, antioxidant and immunological responses will be evaluated by established protocols. (AU)
