Abstract

The aim of the present study is to determine the failure probability and stress distribution as well as to determine the site of fracture initiation of external hexagon implants with micro-unit abutments.40 micro-unit abutments (Conexão Sistemas de Prótese, Arujá, SP) will be screwed to external hexagon implants of 13 mm in height. The implants be will be made perpendicular to the horizontal plane in the polyurethane cylinder (F16, Axson Brasil, Socorro, SP). The implant will be fixed to the cylinder under a torch of 40N/cm, leaving 3 mm outside the bed. The abutments will be fixed to the implants with a torch of 20N/cm. A hemispherical cap will be used on the abutment so that the set can be tested under static loading (100 kgf) until fracture, according to ISO 14801. The fracture analysis will be made under stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscopy. The Weibull analysis will be performed to determine the failure probability by ranking the stress values in crescent order. To know the stress distribution along the abutments and implants a finite element analysis will be performed.(AU)
