Abstract

This project aims to identify and classify the constructions with the support verb "dar" (give) and a predicative noun, based on a list of potential constructions. Based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions from Lexicon-Grammar Theory (GROSS, 1975, 1981), this project searches the occurrences in corpus and applies transformational tests to them. It adopts as a reference corpus of written language PLN.BR FULL (MUNIZ et al., 2007) and relies on the assistance of the tool Unitex 3.0 (PAUMIER, 2002) to seek potential occurrences with the support verb "dar". It intends to describe and systematize the nominal predicates and apply transformational tests to the elementary sentences to establish a taxonomy. The results of the application of the tests will be presented in binary matrices indicating the acceptability or unacceptability of each transformation. The identification of occurrences formed by the support verb "dar" and the predicative nouns could support the development of Natural Language Processing resources. (AU)
