Abstract

This project aims to investigate further the issue regarding trade protectionism. Reports and studies are constantly released, affirming that there has been an increase of these measures by States. However, they are the same States that declare themselves in favor of free market at multilateral forums. There is, therefore, a paradox. The project focuses on Brazil's performance within this scenario, as an effort to understand its trade policy and its impacts over the national industry. The intention is to acknowledge the raising numbers through a data collection; to verify the real weight of protectionism within Brazilian trade policy; finally, when a conclusion about the "deindustrialization" of the export line have been achieved, it is intended to establish possible relationships between this process and the action of a more interventionist State, concerning the increase in the number of protectionist measures adopted.
