Abstract

The group of fish comprise approximately 50% of the entire group of vertebrates and, due to the large variety and different adaptive characteristics of this group, many studies are conducted to better understand important events in the life of these animals. Among the various studies, we highlight those related to reproductive physiology, which mainly comprises the study of neurohormones, which act as flags of the different processes involved in reproduction. In this sense, there is a great importance of knowing the different brain areas where they are produced the different hormones that act on the endocrine control of reproduction. However, although the group of fish is large and diverse, the studies related to the cytoarchitectonic studies did not accompany such diversity, since many species remain without a detailed study on the cytoarchitectonic distribuition. It is also necessary to mention that although the general organization of the fish brain is relatively conserved detailed citoarquitetônica organization differs considerably between different orders and even between species of the same order. Therefore, it is necessary to have accurate tools to conduct these morphological and functional neuroanatomy studies. (AU)
