Abstract

Social physique anxiety can be defined as a subtype of social anxiety. It refers to the anxiety that experienced as a result of an external evaluation, made by other person, about one´s appearance/physique. Because body exposition during physical evaluation is a common situation in physiotherapy clinics and gyms, this construct is pertinent to the professionals that work in these places. The aim of this research is realize a methodological study of the Social Physique Anxiety Scale, given the psychometric fragility of the actual Brazilian version. The target population is Brazilian women, between 18 and 39 years. The sample is non-probabilistic, by judgement, and it will recruit approximately 350 participants, which will be orally invited to take part of the study. We hope that this research provides a more adequate scale than the current version, psychometrically speaking, for Brazilian researches to analyze body image traits.
