Abstract
1. to estimate the psychometric properties of instruments used to evaluate the concepts investigated among a sample of Brazilians; 2. to evaluate the composition of body image concept by associating different aspects (body satisfaction/dissatisfaction, attention to body shape, social physique anxiety and body checking and avoidance); 3. to verify the influence of demographic, social, economic and nutritional characteristics, cosmetic use and plastic surgery on body image; 4. to verify the impact of body image, eating behavior and food choice on satisfaction with life satisfaction; 5. to estimate levels of salivary cortisol, functional performance and body composition of individuals with extreme scores for eating behavior. Methods: Brazilians of both sexes aged between 18 and 40 shall be invited to take part in the study, which shall take place in three phases. Phase 1: all the stages necessary for evaluating the psychometric properties of each instrument used (Escala Situacional de Satisfação Corporal-ESSC, Attention to Body Shape Scale-ABS, Social Physique Anxiety Scale-SPAS, Body Checking and Avoidance Questionnaire-BCAQ, Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire-TFEQ-18, Food Choice Questionnaire-FCQ and Satisfaction with Life Scale-SWLS). Phase 2: preparation of structural models seeking to respond to objectives 2, 3 and 4 through structural equation modelling. Phase 3: identification and recruitment of individuals with extremely low (P<25) and extremely high (P>75) scores for cognitive restraint, emotional eating and/or uncontrolled eating (TFEQ-18) to evaluate salivary cortisol levels (electrochemiluminescence assay), functional performance (functional neurometry) and body composition (bioimpedance). Next, the measurements obtained for each variable shall be compared between groups using Analysis of Variance, with 5% being the level of significance. (AU)
