Abstract

Sexual function participates in determining the quality of life of individuals with chronic diseases, among which is included chronic kidney disease. Quality of life is an event that has multiple dimensions; multidetermined is, concerning the adaptation of individuals and human groups at different times and societies, with different criteria for their assessment Among the many dimensions affected by any diseases, but especially those of chronic character, stands sexuality. Diseases such as chronic kidney disease, can reduce or prevent the interest in sexuality at any age enabling changes in the quality of life of this. The present study aims - to examine the relationship between sexual function and quality of life of adults and the elderly with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. This is a descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional, which will be held at the Department of Nephrology of San Carlos, with people from 18 years with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis, who agree to participate in the study with signing the consent form. Participants respond to the following instruments: characterization of the subjects, male or female sex ratio and quality of life questionnaire SF -36. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee on Human Research of the Federal University of São Carlos.
