Abstract

The aim of this research is to understand the organizational practices necessary for producing a musical theater show in São Paulo. The focus on practicing is aligned to the concern of Organizational Studies about how "organizations happen" and in understanding of the everyday organizational processes and practices, referring to the understanding of organizations as a process (organizing) in constant state of (re)constitution. The musical theater, inserted in the creative industries, seems to be a consolidated activity in Brazil, mainly by the increase of large musical montages and its increasing professionalization, in particular in the last decade and especially in São Paulo. The Actor-Network Theory, used to support the research, is an approach which provides an analytical repertoire for understanding the social order as an effect of a network of heterogeneous elements, where stability is temporarily achieved. The research is qualitative and presents ethnographic principles. It will be conducted through non-participant observations, semi-structured interviews documents and photos. The research is supposed to contribute to the understanding of organizations as processes, debating their practices and elements ignored or taken for granted, addressing an organizational format underexplored by the Organizational Studies.
